11 Amazing Facts and Myths About Eyes

11 Amazing Facts and Myths About Eyes....
1.About 80 % of what we perceive comes through the eyes. Our memories are made 80 % by images. The eye comes with information about the depth, distance, shape, color and movement of the objects.

2.The human eye is one of nature's wonders and functions like a photo camera. Only that is much more complex.

An adult eye has about 24 mm (1 inch) in diameter and about 12 million photoreceptors (light sensitive cells) and six muscles that move the ocular sphere with such a precision that it allows the eye to follow moving objects. Like a camera, the eye has a diaphragm (called iris), whose opening (called pupil) degree adapts to the brightness of the environment. In weak light, the pupil will be large, to let more light inside. This happens for example in the dark or twilight. In the daylight, the pupil is small. The iris gives the eye's color.

The pupil can increase its size also under the effect of strong emotions (fear, sexual turn on).

The light rays that cross the pupil have been previously concentrated by the powerful action (till 45 dioptres) of the cornea, a transparent salient layer. The cornea is the front part of the white membrane of the eye, called sclerotica, which is rich in blood vessels. The cornea is devoid of blood vessels. Between cornea and iris-crystalline, there is the watery humour, that cleans and feed the cornea.

The crystalline lens is charged with the focusing of the light and its refraction index (between 19 and 38 dioptres) is adjusted by the ciliary muscles. When we look at a remote object, the crystalline relaxes and flattens. When looking at a close object, the crystalline turns convex.

3.After crossing the vitreous humour, the light reaches the retina, a membrane possessing 130 photosensitive rods and 7 million color photosensitive cones. On the retina an upside down image is formed, a photo that is reverted by the brain.

The rods and the cones turn the light into electric signals which are transmitted through the ganglionic cells to the optic nerve and from there they reach the brain.

Rods are extremely sensitive to light, but they can distinguish only blue and green. The cones distinguish clear and colored images, but they require strong light. That's why in the dark, images are not clear and all appears in blue and green. Rods use vitamin A, that's why carrots, cabbage and other green vegetables benefit the eye.

4.Human eye can detect 10 million color hues, but cannot see ultraviolet or infrared light. Insects can see the ultraviolet light.

Birds have yellow fatty filters in their cones that allow them to differentiate hues of green and detect easily homocromous (having the same color with) leaf color mimicking insects, which are practically invisible at just one look for humans.

5.The human eye sees basically three colors: red, green and blue. These are basic colors. The white is a combination of the three, the black is their lack. Yellow, purple or mauve form through the combination of two basic colors; these are called secondary colors.

6.The fore eyeball and the inner eyelids are covered by a transparent layer called conjunctive. While blinking, the conjunctive and the tears (produced by the Harder glands in the inner corner of the eye) moisturize and clean of dirt and dust the cornea.

We blink once or twice at 10 seconds, and a blink lasts 0.3 seconds. In 12 hours, we blink 25 minutes. Infants starts blinking at the age of 6 months.

Tears drain into the nasal cavity and are more abundant in case of dust or dirt. Strong emotions also cause abundant tearing (weeping).

7.Most cones are agglomerated in a region of the retina called macula lutea ("yellow spot"). That's why to clearly see a thing, we have to move the eyes, so that the projection is formed on macula lutea. Close to macula lutea, there is a blind spot where the optic nerve goes out of the eye.

8.Eyes are protected in bony eyesockets, sheathed with a fatty tissue, so that usually, the socket is more harmed that the proper eye.

9.Because the eyes watch the environment from different angles, they send different information to the brain. The brain "learns" from the first days to assemble the two images, so that we do not see a double image. But the difference between the two images helps the brain detect the location of the objects in the space and distance. This is the tridimensional vision, provided by binocular sight (when the field of the two eyes interpose).

Arboreal and predatory animals need this type of sight for moving on the branches or hunt.

Prey animals have usually lateral positioned eyes. Their fields do not interpose (this is monocular vision). They cannot assess distances well, but this way have larger visual fields, overlooking the environment for predators.

10.Why do we see blurry underwater? This has to do with the refraction indexes. Air has the refraction index 1, cornea and water about 1.33. The human crystalline cannot focus properly the light when experiencing the refraction index of the water, that's why we see underwater things as being blurry. The issue is eliminated with diving glasses which put a layer of air before the eyes.

11. These are urban legends about the eye and the eye's functioning, without any scientific support.

a."The glasses increase the myopia and the hypermetropia because the eyes accustom the them."

Myopia (distant range vision impairment) and hypermetropia (short range vision impairment) are determined by the cornea's form and this form is not affected by the use of the glasses.

b."Reading in dim light harm the eyes". A new research proved this to be false. A poor illumination can cause headaches and harm the already weak eyes, but in fact strengthens the healthy eyes.

c."Crossing the eyes produce strabismus". The incorrect eyes' posture is the result of developmental impairments. Crossing the eyes for amusement is not dangerous.

d."The vein of the iris can show a person's health". Similarly to the fingerprints, the veins of the iris are very personal and cannot display the health of the owner.

e."The blue-eyed ones see better than the brown-eyed ones". The iris color has no link with the visual sharpness.

Largest Snail On Earth

The Largest Snail On Earth

The African giant snail is the largest snail from its family. The Giant Ghana snail is native to the forest of Ghana, Africa. Those snails are hermaphrodites, like almost all pulmonate gastropods. The shells of these snails grow s to 18 centimeters of length with a diameter of 9 centimeters, however, there are also bigger examples. Those snails lives in tropical conditio
n where they do not have natural enemies. Each of those gigantic snails lays up to twelve hundred eggs per year that causing a big problem in natural habitat for the other, normal size snails that we have used to. The size does matter in this case, the Giant Tiger snail demolish around 500 kinds of plants and they also eat the stucco and paint on buildings. Those things cause that the local tree snails are threatened or to become extinct.

Another End of the World on 21. December 2012

Another End of the World

According to supporters of the theory of theend of the world, life on Earth will end on 21. December 2012. The controversy was raised about the ancient Maya calendar that is ending on that date.
The only evidence they have for this belief is 800 years old Mayan manuscript known as Codex Drezdezis, which is kept in the City and University Library of Dresden.
It is all abou
t one of several ancient Maya manuscripts that are stored in the world, and also the only one that contains the calendar and the images of apocalypse. The last image, for example, shows a catastrophic flood, with images of the gods and mythical creatures, with streams of water pouring on the ground from the jaws of the celestial dragon, according Bizlife.
The interest in this manuscript is huge. The library director Thomas Birger says that every day people are calling them from America, from Mexico, from all over the world. They call them scientists, laymen, and all possible weirdos. Birger said that on the Internet circulate an incredible number of rumors. Among other things, the forums are aware that on that day a comet will hit the Earth, and share tips for survival.
In order to disputed handwriting and so everyone can see them for themselves, researchers have developed a new digital version of the Code, so that its 39 sheets of printed and plotted from the bark of the fig tree, a total of 3.5 m long, can now be foundon the Internet.
Birger says that they do not want to stir up rumors and theories, but to offer a valid information. The next year in Dresden will be the sign of the whole Mayan manuscripts, which will be dedicated to a number of meetings with thousands of visitors, but the 21. December to wait quite relaxed. On that day they will organize a party for the survivors, said Birger, a public library director.

Ten Facts about Teens and Alcohol

1. The average age when youth first try alcohol is 11 years for boys and 13 years forgirls and by the age of 14, 41% of children have had least one drink.
2. The average age at which Americans begin drinking regularly is 15.9 years old.
3. Teens who begin drinking before age 15 are five times more likely to develop alcohol dependence than those who begin drinking
at age 21.
4. An early age of drinking onset is also associated with alcohol-related violence not only among persons under age 21 but among adults as well.
5. It’s estimated that over three million teenagers are out-and-out alcoholics. Several million more have a serious drinking problem that they cannot manageon their own.
6. Annually, more than 5,000 deaths of people under age 21 are linked to underage drinking.
7. Various studies have found that 44% of students attending 4-year colleges drink alcohol at the binge level or greater.
8. Every year, an estimated 30,000 college students require medical treatment after overdosing on alcohol.
9. Annually, 400,000 students between the ages 18 and 24 engage in unprotected sex while drunk and say they wouldn't have done it had they been sober.
10. The three leading causes of death for 15- to 24-year-olds are automobile crashes, homicides and suicides -- alcohol isa leading factor in all three.

Plzz Beware to those Fb-Pages/ email / messges, who are Misguiding to the people about Cut Onions~
According to this widely circulated health warning, people should not eat raw or left-over onion because onions are"poisonous".
The fact is that onions are not especially prone to bacterial contamination. In fact, quite the opposite. Onions feature a variety of sulphur compounds that have antibacteri
al activity. Furthermore, cutting an onion triggers the release of enzymes that initiate a chemical reaction producing propenesulfenic acid, which in turn decomposes to yield sulphuric acid.
It is the sulphuric acid that makes you cry byirritating the eyes! But sulphuric acid also inhibits the growth of bacteria. Also, a cut onion's surface dries out quickly, reducing the moisture that is needed for bacteria to multiply

Tallest rail bridge in making, Engineering marvel in INDIA

Tallest rail bridge in making, Engineering marvel in INDIA

The world’s highest rail bridge on the Chenab, which will provide a direct rail link to Kashmir, is likely to be completed by the end of 2015.The bridge — lying 65 kilometres from Katra — will rise 359 meters over the river. When completed, the bridge will be five times the height of Qutub Minar and 35 metres taller than Eiffel Tower. The
bridge will be a scenic beauty as the train will come out of a 5.9km long tunnel from the Katra-end and pass through other bridges before it crosses the Chenab.
The 1,315-metre bridge will use 25,000 million tonnes of steel and is likely to be completed by the end of 2015, he said. It is likely to cost around Rs 650 crore.
Presently the world’s tallest rail bridge lies over France’s Tarn river and its tallest pillarrises 340 metres. However, the actual height at which trains run on the bridge is 300 metres. now,The Chenab bridge will be the highest in the world.
The Jammu-Udhampur-Katra-Quazi gund-Baramulla Railway line is the biggest mountain railway construction. From Jammu to Baramulla, the length of the newrail line is 345 km. It passes through the young Himalayas, tectonic thrusts and faults, officials said. The rail line, which was declared a national project in 2002, is an attempt to provide an alternative transportation system to Kashmir. It is alsoexpected to boost tourist inflow into the valley.
Wind speed, which may go up to 266 kmph at the height of 359 metres, can, however, be an irritant to the construction of the bridge. It has been decided not to allow trains to cross the Chenab if the wind velocity is more than 90 kmph.
International and national engineering agencies have also been roped in to facilitate the construction of the project, according to experts.

This train will launch you into space

This train will launch you into space..!!

Getting into space via shuttle is difficult and expensive. So why not take a train? Startram is a magnetic levitation train thatcould — theoretically — launch people into orbit for a fraction of the cost.
Startram was developed in part by James Powell, one of the inventors of maglev technology. Maglev, if you’re not familiar, issome freaking stupendous tr
ain tech — maglev bullet trains can hit speeds of morethan 350 miles per hour, making even the HOV lane look pretty silly. Using it for space launches wouldn’t save emissions like mosttrain infrastructure, because it’s not like people are regularly commuting in space shuttles. But it could promote science by slashing the cost of space exploration.
Basically the Startram is a super-long maglev track inside a vacuum tube, which has one end magnetically raised so that a shuttle that shoots from the tube’s end gets fired right into orbit. Because the track is 1,000 miles long, the shuttle has plenty of taxiing time to accelerate to escape velocity, as opposed to a traditionalshuttle launch where it has to get all the necessary momentum in one explosive hit

Coffee Table Made From Old Computer Parts
Have a few of old computers and you do not know what to do with them? Here’s a cool example on how you could get rid off your old computers in creative way. Most of us who love computers have owned a few of PCs and those who didn’t sell their old PC on time are incapable to do it now because no one wants to buy a Pentium II comput
er anymore. It is even hard to find aperson who would accept it as a gift.
This amazingly geeky table has been created from dozens of motherboards and other parts which were taken from old PCs.Despite the fact that there is a plenty of technological junk inside it, the upper glass panel which is placed over those PC parts will guarantee that your table will be clean enough to be used for its purpose.

Matt Gallant (left) poses with a whopping 7ft 6inch albino catfish which is more than a foot taller than him. He pulled the giant albino catfish, which weighed 180lbs, out of the River Ebro in Spain on the last day of his fishing trip. It is believed to be the third largest albino catfish ever caught in the world and towered over Matt, who is 6ft 2inches tall. "I was stunned when I pulled itout of the river as it was so huge," said Matt, from Norwich, Norfolk. "It was my first ever catfish and I caught it on the last night in the last hour of our fishing trip. We took a photo, then put it back in the river

The dying boy who helped feeding the hungry (Brenden Foster)

The dying boy who helped feeding the hungry

Brenden Foster (October 4, 1997 – November 21, 2008) was a boy from Bothell, Washington, diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2005. KOMO, a local broadcasting station, reported the story of Brenden's last wish, which was to feed the homeless. He said he wanted to be an angel so he could help the homeless from Heaven. The story inspired many, a
nd prompted attention from national media, even drawing international attention.

The Brenden Foster Food Drive was created by the broadcasting station in his honor. In Seattle, volunteers from the Emerald City Lights Bike Ride passed out over 200 sandwiches to the homeless. Inspired viewers took part in the "Stuff the Truck" food drive in Brenden's honor, filling seven trucks of groceries and $95,000 in cash to benefit the Northwest Harvest and Food Lifeline. Brenden's story also reached KOMO's sister station in Portland, Oregon, KATU, which reported actions inspired by Brenden in Los Angeles, Ohio, and Pensacola, Florida. At the Union Rescue Mission in Los Angeles, for instance, over 2,500 meals have been served in Brenden's name. His advocacy for the homeless housed in tent cities continues to be remembered. A Vietnam War veteran from Kentucky who lost his leg in the war was so touched by the story, he gave Brenden his purple heart.

The Seattle Seahawks NFL franchise paid for Brenden's funeral; he was buried in Evergreen Washelli Cemetery in Seattle, Washington.

Nematodes are the Antarctic’s most abundant land creature

What's the most abundant animal in Antarctica? If you said penguins you'd be wrong.

Nematodes are the Antarctic’s most abundant land creature, beating out penguins (as most penguins spend most of their time at sea). And yet you’ll never see one- until you get behind a microscope that is.

Now you may be wondering, how does this tiny, little creature survive in the endless frozen desert that is t
he Antarctic? Well, when conditions get too dry, nematodes have the ability to drop into a death-like state.

They can stay in such a state for months, even years, before they finally revives themselves. First, they pump all the water out of their bodies until they’re dried out (this process in similar to freeze-drying).

Then, they literally just blow around in the wind until the moisture returns. When it does, they suck the water back into their bodies and voila-they’re alive!

Bionic eye

This mechanism allows some recovery of eyesight if the optic nerve is saved healthy. In most cases, this is a small camera attached to the eyeglasses. The camera takes a photo and sends it to an electronic module, hanging on the belt of the patient. The picture is black-and-white , with low resolution, i.e. perceive only rough outlines and there is no color vision. After processing of
the electronic module picture is transmitted wirelessly to the antennas close to the eyeball. These antennas forward the signal to electrodes implanted into the retina. Another direction in this regard is the use of photovoltaic plate which converts light into electrons and delivers it to the brain via the optic nerve. At the moment this technology allows only making a difference between light and dark.

Electrical Interview questions

Electrical Interview questions

Q:What is electric traction?
A:Electric traction means using the electric power for traction system (i.e. for railways, trams, trolleys etc). Electric traction means use of the electricity for all the above machines. Now a days, magnetic traction is also used for bullet trains.and basically dc motors are used for electric traction systems.

Q:How can you start-up the 40w tube lite with 230v AC/DC without using any choke/Coil?
A:It's possible by means of Electronic chokes, otherwise it's not possible to ionize the particles in tube light with normal voltage.

Q:What is "pu" in electrical engineering?
A:Pu stands for per unit and this will be used in single line diagram of power distribution and it is like a huge electrical circuit with no of components (generators, transformers, loads) with different ratings (in MVA and KV). To bring all the ratings into common platform we use pu concept in which, in general largest MVA and KV ratings of the component is considered as base values, then all other component ratings will get back into this basis. Those values are called as pu values. (p.u=actual value/ base value).

Q:Operation carried out in Thermal power stations?
A:The water is obtained in the boiler and the coal is burnt so that steam is obtained this steam is allowed to hit the turbine , the turbine which is coupled with the generator generates the electricity.

Q:Why link is provided in neutral of an ac circuit and fuse in phase of ac circuit?
A:Link is provided at a Neutral common point in the circuit from which various connection are taken for the individual control circuit and so it is given in a link form to withstand high Amps. But in the case of Fuse in the Phase of AC circuit it is designed such that the fuse rating is calculated for the particular circuit (i.e load) only.So if any malfunction happen the fuse connected in the particular control circuit alone will blow off.

Q: What is the difference between electronic regulator and ordinary electrical rheostat regulator for fans?
A:The difference between the electronic and ordinary electrical regulator is that in electronic regulator power losses are less because as we decrease the speed the electronic regulator gives the power needed for that particular speed but in case of ordinary rheostat type regulator, the power wastage is same for every speed and no power is saved. In electronic regulator, triac is employed for speed control by varying the firing angle speed and it is controlled but in rheostatic ,control resistance is decreased by steps to achieve speed control.

How are we Affected by Space Radiation?

How are we
Affected by Space
Radiation?

There are many ways this can
happen, but the two most
troubling ones have to do
with electrical power
blackouts and human
radiation exposure.

The March 24, 1940 solar storm
caused a temporary disruption
of electrical service in New
England, New York,
Pennsylvania, Minnesota,
Quebec and Ontario. A storm on February 9-10, 1958 caused
a power transformer failure
at the British Columbia Hydro
and Power Authority. On
August 2, 1972, the Bureau of
Reclamation power station in Watertown, South Dakota
was subjected to large swings
in power line voltages up to
25,000 volts. Similar voltage
swings were reported by
Wisconsin Power and Light, Madison Gas and Electric, and
Wisconsin Public Service
Corporation. A 230,000-volt
transformer at the British
Columbia Hydro and Power
Authority exploded, and Manitoba Hydro in Canada
recorded power drops from
164 to 44 megawatts in a
matter of a few minutes, in
the power it was supplying to
Minnesota.

Perhaps the most dramatic,
recent impact occurred in
March 1989 during the peak of
the last sunspot cycle, when
the sun produced one of the
most powerful storms ever recorded. On March 13, 1989
Alaskan and Scandinavian
observers were treated to a
spectacular auroral display. In
fact, this display was seen as
far south as the Mediterranean and Japan. Although many
millions of people marveled at
this beautiful spectacle, many
millions more were not so
happy about it. Hydro-Quebec
on Saint James Bay did the best it could to stabilize the
power surges its lines received
but ultimately failed the
challenge. For 9 hours, large
portions of Quebec were
plunged into darkness.

Although the atmosphere
protects most airline flights
well from space radiation,
transcontinental flights taking
the polar route pass through
regions of Earth's magnetic field where particles become
concentrated. Airline flight
crews who travel these
routes frequently can
accumulate as many as .9 rem
a year. This is more than the allowed annual dosages for
nuclear plant operators and
comparable to what shuttle
astronauts receive during a
typical one-week mission.

you can control and manipulate human mind.

Yes you can control and manipulate human mind.

Either you realize it or not, want it or not, your mind is being manipulated and controlled by others each and every moment of your life. In fact, your mind is being controlled by me at this very moment. Wanted proof? You are still reading the text, aren’t you?
Even though I tried my best to come up with the best title for this post, it could still b
e somehow misleading. So, before we go any further, let me set the limit to our discussion. No, we will not talk about voodoo-ish kind of mind manipulating. Maybe more like science-based psycological-ish kind. Not to the hardcore level of brainwashing, but simple tricks people use every day to their peers or even their larger environment – mass mind manipulation.
You see, human mind is full of loopholes. There are lots of scientific experiments conducted to proof this. One of them is Solomon Asch experiment in 1957. People who know and understand about this can (and surely will) take advantage of their knowledge, while the unknown are sitting ducks – ready and able to follow every ‘command’ given to them. From a simple ‘do this’ to the level of ‘kill them’. Some for the ‘good cause’ (or at least that is what the do-ers believe), some for ‘other causes’.

I have demonstrated one of the mind control tricks clearly from the very beginning. If you are reading this far, then the trick works. They say curiosity kills the cat, but this time it keeps you reading. Mind can be
control by other by showing different movements, talking, showing symbols etc. A person (first person) can control another person to art a human sketch based on the first person’s wish, though this first person will not interrupt during the sketch or tell him/her anything about the sketch. A person (first person) can control one’s mind to shoot on a specific director that the first person thought. Those can be possible …
Emotion is the easiest pick. Make people (believe they would be) very happy and they would do anything for you. Make them feel guilty and they would do anything for you. You can also use fear – fear of losing or fear of not getting something they want – to achieve the same goal.
Everybody have their own authoritative figures: parents, kings, ugly boss who always shouts, religious leaders, celebrities, cool guy on the basketball team, society, gods, prophets, Bill Gates… You can use people’s obedience to authoritative figures to make them taking – or not taking – some actions. No matter how absurd it is. Something like, “Build the pyramid!”, or “Finish this 3 thousand pages report by tomorrow morning, you @#$%^&*!!”, or “Love thy enemy.”, or “Don’t hang out with them. Those geeks will have a successful life.”, or “Everybody else use this bloated – resource hogging – virus friendly OS, so you should too!” (No offense. Peace, Bro!)
If there’s any field where human mind is most manipulated – in the largest scale, it would be marketing. Those sleazy marketers are using every tricks they know to sell you something everything anything and dried up your wallet. But the good news is, the mind controlling/manipulating process will have less effect if the person being manipulated knows it. So the best way to protect you against mind manipulation effort is by learning more about it.
All in all, knowing mind control tricks is not always about bad things. Besides learning how to protect yourself and your loved ones, you could use the tricks to do good things: create a better world, improve wealth, building a saver environment, campaign the global cooling, made your kids eats vegetables. (Notice how I use authoritative figure to do persuade you do good things).

Why did we migrate? If not for the human migration from Africa, all humans would look the same.

Why did we migrate? If not for the human migration from Africa, all humans would look the same.

Thousands of years ago, our ancestors spread out everywhere on the globe, giving rise to a huge diversity of races, cultures and people.

But what pushed us to move out? Recent research suggest that a genetic mutation may have been partially responsible for this movement. Modern humans arose about 18
0,000 years ago. And for almost 100,000 of those years, we stagnated around bodies of water in Central Africa. Our ancestors developed a mutation that allowed them to convert medium chain plant-based Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids (PUFAs) into long chain Brain PUFAs that were vital for brain growth and function.

Prior to that, the humans needed to stay closer to water bodies in order to get shellfish and fish, which had the long chain PUFA necessary for complex brain function. Due to the mutation, the humans could diversify their PUFA sources, even to those that existed far away from water. This would have been useful for the Great Expansion.

So, if you ever again wonder why we're so diverse, you can thank this tiny little mutation!

Anti-Gravity Platform

Anti-Gravity Platform

This is one of the things that make you feel like you’re in a science fiction movie. In fact there is nothing magical or unbelievable but it makes a great effect. It is based on magnetic levitation of a magnet placed above another one. Power supply comes to the base platform. Once it is turned on, you can place the supplied globe in the air above the platform. It will hover
almost an inch above the powered base and will rotate slowly. When you open the globe, you will discover a magnetic disc inside. You can put this disc above the platform and then balance stuff of your choice on it. There is a weight limit: you can use objects not heavier than 85 gr and levitation may not proceed properly if the object is made of iron or any magnetic material. Platform has eight LED lights which gives great light effect to the floating object.

The US Government has known since 1974 that Cannabis CURES Cancer.

It worked fast, it worked well, it worked on many different forms of Cancer in ALL stages and it had ZERO harmful side effects. (Unlike Chemo which deteriorates your entire body and kills 1 in 5 patients) Not only that, but it dissolves ALL forms of tumors and can even combat superbugs like MRSA.

The public must REALIZE that the
Government has been lying for over 40 years, that MILLIONS of lives could have been saved and that the dying could grow the cure they need in their backyard.

If you want to know more, you should Google 'Cannabis Cures Cancer'. You will see that there are THOUSANDS of published SCIENTIFIC studies, articles, books and documentaries on the subject. I'd start with the documentaries below:

Iranian university bans on women causes consternation.

More than 30 universities have introduced new rules banning female students from almost 80 different degree courses.

With the start of the new Iranian academic year, a raft of restrictions on courses open to female students has been introduced, raising questions about the rights of women to education in Iran - and the long-term impact such e

No official reason has been given for the move, but campaigners, including Nobel Prize winning lawyer Shirin Ebadi, allege it is part of a deliberate policy by the authorities to exclude women from education.

Setenil de Las Bodegas – the City Built Into the Rocks

Setenil de Las Bodegas – the City Built Into the Rocks

Setenil de las Bodegas is a small town in the province of Cádiz, Spain. Named after its once flourishing wineries - bodegas - Setenil de las Bodegas (which means Setenil of the Wine Cellars) is unique among the pueblos blancos , white villages, of Andalucia and particularly famous for its dwellings built into the rock overhangs. The town exte
nds along the course of the Rio Trejo with some houses being built into the rock walls of the gorge itself, created by enlarging natural caves or overhangs and adding an external wall.
Modern Setenil evolved from a fortified Moorish town that occupied a bluff overlooking a sharp bend in the Rio Trejo northwest of Ronda. The castle dates from at least the Almohad period in the 12th century. However, evidence of other nearby cave-dwelling societies, such as those at the Cueva de la Pileta west of Ronda, where habitation has been tracked back more than 25,000 years suggests that Setenil was occupied much much earlier. It was a spectacular defense place at the Arab age, which resisted several times the attacks of the Christian troops, before being conquered by the Catholic Monarchs in 1488.

YAMAKI PINE:

THE YAMAKI PINE: Japanese Bonsai Tree which Defy Nature, Survive Nuclear Bombs!

#Age? at least 375 years old. Amazing!!

It’s been around since at least 1625. Before the world wars, before the car and bicycle, before the American Civil War or even the United States of America, there was the Yamaki pine.

Not only is it coming up on 400 years old, but the Yamaki pine has also survived one of the most devastating events in recorded history: a nuclear bomb. One August 6, 1945, the Yamaki pine was sitting about two miles away from ground zero but miraculously, it was shielded from the blast by a wall.

It seems incredible that, despite the intense radiation that obliterated the residents of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the relatively small Yamaki pine has fared well in the 70 years since.

Humans are the only mammal that can’t swallow and breathe at the same time.

Swallow and Breathe

Fact: Humans are the only mammal that can’t swallow and breathe at the same time.

Every other mammal, and many other non-mammalian animals, can breathe while they eat. In fact, human infants are also able to do so, which lets them breathe while they nurse. We lose this ability around the age of 9 months, when our voice box drops as part of our development. As children and adults, the human voice box lays unusually low in the neck compared to other animals. This allows sound to resonate much more, which is why we are able to produce the wide range of sounds that makes up our speech.

Mysterious director

Meanwhile, the press questions Bacile's identity. Some reports suggest that the name Bacile may be a pseudonym for someone affiliated with the Egyptian Coptic Christian diaspora, while others doubt the director has been contacted at all.
A man who claimed he was a consultant on the film told The Atlantic that Bacile was a pseudonym, and that the man was not Jewish or Israeli. Israeli officials said there was no record of him being a citizen.
Amid the controversy and rumors surrounding the film, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, a California Coptic Christian earlier convicted of financial crimes, has confirmed his role in managing and providing logistics for its production. He denied having directed the film or knowing purported director Sam Bacile. However, AP reports that the phone number the agency used to reach Bacile was used to trace Nakoula outside Los Angeles. Further, according to federal court papers, Nakoula was known to use the surname Bacily as an alias.

JAGUAR GETS MORE TEETH

JAGUAR GETS MORE TEETH

Nearly 120 of the Indian Air Force jets are being modernized

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has lit the afterburners to make its Jaguars fighting fit for modern warfare and increase their service life.

The Jaguars, the only aircraft with the IAF capable of carrying nuclear weapons other than the Mirage-2000s, are being fitted with autopilots, next generation avionics and lethal armaments under an ambitious modernisation programme that will see the fighters flying well after 2030.

Nearly 120 Jaguars are being modernised. So far, the IAF has procured autopilots for 55 Jaguars and talks for 95 more, which includes spare autopilots, are underway, according to information shared by the government in Parliament.

The upgradation of the Ambala-based fighter jets, in service for more than four decades, is being carried out by the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) at a cost of more than Rs 3,000 crore.

Autopilots would lessen pilot workload, freeing them from physically flying the jet during long flights though, in an ultimate test of IAF top guns, six Jaguars flew all the way to Alaska for a joint exercise with the US Air Force in 2004.

The government is also reviving a plan to re-engine the aircraft with a more powerful powerplant. The IAF feels the Jaguars, powered by Rolls Royce Adour-811 turbofan engines, are underpowered, and wants a more powerful engine for the fighters.

But its hunt for a new power-plant has not been easy. In 2010, its bid for more than 250 turbofans for the Jaguars could not take off as one of the contenders – Rolls Royce, which offered its upgraded Adour MK-821 engine – backed out leaving only Honeywell’s F124IN engine in the fray.

The Indian government prefers to avoid single-vendor bids in military acquisitions.

The Jaguar’s cockpit is going to completely transform. It’s going to turn all glass. There will be digital MFDs (multifunction displays) replacing the traditional analog gauges and dials, and pilots will have fly-by-wire controls...

A sweet lesson on patience. (must read)

A sweet lesson on patience.

A NYC Taxi driver wrote:

I arrived at the address and honked the horn. After waiting a few minutes I honked again. Since this was going to be my last ride of my shift I thought about just driving away, but instead I put the car in park and walked up to the door and knocked.. 'Just a minute', answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across
the floor.

After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 90's stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940's movie.

By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets.

There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard
box filled with photos and glassware.

'Would you carry my bag out to the car?' she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, then returned to assist the woman.

She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb.

She kept thanking me for my kindness. 'It's nothing', I told her.. 'I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother to be treated.'

'Oh, you're such a good boy, she said. When we got in the cab, she gave me an address and then asked, 'Could you drive
through downtown?'

'It's not the shortest way,' I answered quickly..

'Oh, I don't mind,' she said. 'I'm in no hurry. I'm on my way to a hospice.

I looked in the rear-view mirror. Her eyes were glistening. 'I don't have any family left,' she continued in a soft voice..'The doctor says I don't have very long.' I quietly reached over and shut off the meter.

'What route would you like me to take?' I asked.

For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator.

We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl.

Sometimes she'd ask me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing.

As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she suddenly said, 'I'm tired.Let's go now'.
We drove in silence to the address she had given me. It was a low building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico.

Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move.
They must have been expecting her.

I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair.

'How much do I owe you?' She asked, reaching into her purse.

'Nothing,' I said

'You have to make a living,' she answered.

'There are other passengers,' I responded.

Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug.She held onto me tightly.

'You gave an old woman a little moment of joy,' she said. 'Thank you.'

I squeezed her hand, and then walked into the dim morning light.. Behind me, a door shut.It was the sound of the closing of a life..

I didn't pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly lost in thought. For the rest of that day,I could hardly talk. What if that woman had gotten an angry driver,or one who was impatient to end his shift? What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away?

On a quick review, I don't think that I have done anything more important in my life.

We're conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments.

But great moments often catch us unaware-beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.

10000 times stronger killer of CANCER than Chemo

IHRO International Human Rights Organization

"10000 times stronger killer of CANCER than Chemo".. do share it.. can save many lives, fill up hopes and build confidence in the patients...

The Sour Sop or the fruit from the graviola tree is a miraculous natural cancer cell killer 10,000 times stronger than Chemo.

Why are we not aware of this? Its because some big corporation want to make back their money spent on years of research by trying to make a synthetic version of it for sale.

So, since you know it now you can help a friend in need by letting him know or just drink some sour sop juice yourself as prevention from time to time. The taste is not bad after all. It’s completely natural and definitely has no side effects. If you have the space, plant one in your garden.
The other parts of the tree are also useful.

The next time you have a fruit juice, ask for a sour sop.

How many people died in vain while this billion-dollar drug maker concealed the secret of the miraculous Graviola tree?

This tree is low and is called graviola ! in Brazi l, guanabana in Spanish and has the uninspiring name “soursop” in English. The fruit is very large and the subacid sweet white pulp is eaten out of hand or, more commonly, used to make fruit drinks, sherbets and such.

The principal interest in this plant is because of its strong anti-cancer effects. Although it is effective for a number of medical conditions, it is its anti tumor effect that is of most interest. This plant is a proven cancer remedy for cancers of all types.

Besides being a cancer remedy, graviola is a broad spectrum antimicrobial agent for both bacterial and fungal infections, is effective against internal parasites and worms, lowers high blood pressure and is used for depression, stress and nervous disorders.

If there ever was a single example that makes it dramatically clear why the existence of Health Sciences Institute is so vital to Americans like you, it’s the incredible story behind the Graviola tree..

The truth is stunningly simple: Deep within the Amazon Rainforest grows a tree that could literally revolutionize what you, your doctor, and the rest of the world thinks about cancer treatment and chances of survival. The future has never looked more promising.

Research shows that with extracts from this miraculous tree it now may be possible to:
* Attack cancer safely and effectively with an all-natural therapy that does not cause extreme nausea, weight loss and hair loss
* Protect your immune system and avoid deadly infections
* Feel stronger and healthier throughout the course of the treatment
* Boost your energy and improve your outlook on life

The source of this information is just as stunning: It comes from one of America ‘s largest drug manufacturers, th! e fruit of over 20 laboratory tests conducted since the 1970's! What those tests revealed was nothing short of mind numbing… Extracts from the tree were shown to:

* Effectively target and kill malignant cells in 12 types of cancer, including colon, breast, prostate, lung and pancreatic cancer..
* The tree compounds proved to be up to 10,000 times stronger in slowing the growth of cancer cells than Adriamycin, a commonly used chemotherapeutic drug!
* What’s more, unlike chemotherapy, the compound extracted from the Graviola tree selectivelyhunts
down and kills only cancer cells.. It does not harm healthy cells!

The amazing anti-cancer properties of the Graviola tree have been extensively researched–so why haven’t you heard anything about it? If Graviola extract is

One of America ‘s biggest billion-dollar drug makers began a search for a cancer cure and their research centered on Graviola, a legendary healing tree from the Amazon Rainforest.

Various parts of the Graviola tree–including the bark, leaves, roots, fruit and fruit-seeds–have been used for centuries by medicine men and native Indi! ans in S outh America to treat heart disease, asthma, liver problems and arthritis. Going on very little documented scientific evidence, the company poured money and resources into testing the tree’s anti-cancerous properties–and were shocked by the results. Graviola proved itself to be a cancer-killing dynamo.
But that’s where the Graviola story nearly ended.

The company had one huge problem with the Graviola tree–it’s completely natural, and so, under federal law, not patentable. There’s no way to make serious profits from it.

It turns out the drug company invested nearly seven years trying to synthesize two of the Graviola tree’s most powerful anti-cancer ingredients. If they could isolate and produce man-made clones of what makes the Graviola so potent, they’d be able to patent it and make their money back. Alas, they hit a brick wall. The original simply could not be replicated. There was no way the company could protect its profits–or even make back the millions it poured into research.

As the dream of huge profits evaporated, their testing on Graviola came to a screeching halt. Even worse, the company shelved the entire project and chose not to publish the findings of its research!

Luckily, however, there was one scientist from the Graviola research team whose conscience wouldn’t let him see such atrocity committed. Risking his career, he contacted a company that’s dedicated to harvesting medical plants from the Amazon Rainforest and blew the whistle.

Miracle unleashed
When researchers at the Health Sciences Institute were alerted to the news of Graviola,! they be gan tracking the research done on the cancer-killing tree. Evidence of the astounding effectiveness of Graviola–and its shocking cover-up–came in fast and furious….

….The National Cancer Institute performed the first scientific research in 1976. The results showed that Graviola’s “leaves and stems were found effective in attacking and destroying malignant cells.” Inexplicably, the results were published in an internal report and never released to the public…

….Since 1976, Graviola has proven to be an immensely potent cancer killer in 20 independent laboratory tests, yet no double-blind clinical trials–the typical benchmark mainstream doctors and journals use to judge a treatment’s value–were ever initiated….

….A study published in the Journal of Natural Products, following a recent study conducted at Catholic University of South Korea stated that one chemical in Graviola was found to selectively kill colon cancer cells at “10,000 times the potency of (the commonly used chemotherapy drug) Adriamycin…”

….The most significant part of the Catholic University of South Korea report is that Graviola was shown to selectively target the cancer cells, leaving healthy cells untouched. Unlike chemotherapy, which indiscriminately targets all actively reproducing cells (such as stomach and hair cells), causing the often devastating side effects of nausea and hair loss in cancer patients.

…A study at Purdue University recently found that leaves from the Graviola tree killed cancer cells among six human cell lines and were especially effective against prostate, pancreatic and lung cancers Seven years of silence broken–it’s finally here!

Frigatebird

The frigatebirds are a family, Fregatidae, of seabirds. There are five species in the single genus Fregata. They are also sometimes called Man of War birds or Pirate birds. Since they are related to the pelicans, the term "frigate pelican" is also a name applied to them. They have long wings, tails and bills and the males have a red gular pouch that is inflated during the breeding season to attract a mate.

s. Cloud 9 is easier to get than cigarettes and alcohol, so it has become a popular choice for teenagers. Very little is known about how Cloud 9 interacts with
the brain, but a wide range of unpredictable symptoms have been reported including violent outbursts and cannibalism. Starting in 2011, stories began to emerge about people who took Cloud 9 and then did some very strange things. The drug has been connected with suicides and unexplained deaths.

Dynamic auscultation methods of hear sounds

Dynamic auscultation methods of hear sounds:
Respiration:
Right sided murmurs are louder during inspiration
expiration has the opposite effect
Squatting:
This increases both venous return and peripheral resistance and results in almost all murmurs becoming louder
The exception is in hypertrophic, obstructive cardiomyopathy where the dilatation of the left ventricle partially relieves the outflow obstruction

FD(Foreign Direct Investment)I in India Advantages and Disadvantages

FDI in India Advantages and Disadvantages

First of all, FDI means Foreign Direct Investment which is mainly dealings with monetary matters and using this way they acquires standalone position in the Indian economy. Their policy is very simple to remove rivals. In beginning days they sell products at low price so other competitor shut down in few months. And then companies like Wall-Mart will incr
ease prices than actual product price.

>Advantages>>

>Increase economic growth by dealing with different international products
>1 million (1 Crore) employment will create in three years - UPA Government
>Billion dollars will be invested in Indian market
>Spread import and export business in different countries
>Agriculture related people will get good price of their goods

>>Disadvantages>>

>Will affect 50 million merchants in India
>Profit distribution, investment ratios are not fixed
>An economically backward class person suffers from price raise
>Retailer faces loss in business
>Market places are situated too far which increases traveling expenses
>Workers safety and policies are not mentioned clearly
>Inflation may be increased
>Again India become slaves because of FDI in retail sector

Bugatti Galibier,, a 1000 HP sedan

The Bugatti Galibier, a 1000 HP sedan, was first shown as a concept in 2010 and when put into production, will cost about $1.4 million. It will use a 16-cylinder engine that can run on both biofuel and gasoline, and will bring back the dual-clutch gearbox. Production will require facilities in Molsheim, France, to be refitted, which may push back deliveries until 2013 or 2014.

As much as I love sports cars...I love my 4 door sport sedans. The Galibier is a little (OK...A LOT) out of my price range but hey...it's cool to think about it!
