Brazilian gold frog (Brachycephalus didactylus)

The Brazilian gold frog
(Brachycephalus didactylus ), also
known as Izecksohn’s toad, is the
smallest frog in the Southern
Hemisphere. It was previously
... called Psyllophryne didactyla.
Adult Brazilian gold frogs measure
to only 9.8 millimeters (24.7⁄64
inches) in body length. Many have a
beautiful golden color, for which
they are named.
The smallest frogs of the Northern
Hemisphere are the Cuban
Eleutherodactyl us iberia, which can
be two-tenths of a millimeter
smaller, and Eleutherodactyl us
limbatus , of which fully mature
adults as small as 8.5 mm have been
found.

Adventurer’s Bridge House by Max Pritchard Architect

The wicked folks from Max Pritchard Architect want to bring out the adventurer side in you. Apparently these guys think there’s nothing more challenging than living inside a “bridge” surrounded by the lush green scenery. If that is not enough, look at this Bridge House carefully. It’s made of two steel trusses with concrete floors and steel decking, has a roof made of plantation pipes and comes with transparent walls made of glass. Another great example of narrow housing, it certainly brings the outdoor feeling in. Worth $175,000, the Bridge House is located at one hour’s drive from Adelaide.

THE FIRST WIKIPEDIA TOWN

The QR codes are places across the city which allow visitors to simply scan QR codesand get information from the linked Wikipedia article. A special service called QRpedia allow visitors to scan QR codes all over the city that link directly to the Wikipedia article in their own language.
QR codes are the new standardized way to provide a huge amount of information, easi...ly scanned by many free QR code scanning software and freely available smartphone apps, which allow mobile usersto directly get detailed information from scanning the code and visiting the website without typing the url (Remember the Facebook roof QR code!)
The project is powered by hundreds of Wikipedia voluntary contributors who continue to add Wikipedia articles and videos making Monmouthpedia possible. Articles have geotags allowing users a virtual tour of Monmouth using Wikipedia layer of Google Street View.
It’s just a beginning …
Monmouthpedia is just a prototype new concept which provides updated information about any area in any language, that has helped create the World’s First Wikipedia Town. In fact the implications of this are manifold and this is just the beginning. I expect many such projects to start in small localities, markets, and small neighbourhoods which will redefine the way we use Wikipedia.

10 Surprising Health Benefits of Beer

To tap into these health benefits of beer, it’s important that you drink only in moderation, meaning that one 12-ounce beer per day for women and up to two glasses per day for men should be the maximum beer consumption. Heavy drinking leads to liver damage, heart problems, and some forms of cancer. Therefore, take these health benefits of beer into account, ...but remember that alcohol should be consumed in moderation.
1. Strong Bones
Silicon, which is linked to bone health, is present in beer. To enjoy this health benefitof drinking beer to the fullest, choose pale ale.
2. Strong Heart
Moderate drinking reduces the risk of heart attack and cardiovascular disease by 25% to 40%. A drink or two per day can also help raise HDL cholesterol, which is the kind you want to help arteries from becoming clogged.
3. Healthy Kidneys
Drink a bottle of beer daily and you could reduce your risk of kidney stones by 40%!
4. Healthy Brain
Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia may be kept at bay by drinking a glass a beer per day.
5. Lower Cancer Risk
Researchers speculate that some health benefits of beer are possible because of thesugar in beer that helps block HCAs from forming. HCAs are harmful carcinogens produced when meat is pan-fried. By marinating steak in beer, about 70% of HCAs are eliminated.
6. Boost Vitamin Levels
Who knew you could get vitamin B12 and folic acid from drinking beer? Researchers have also found beer drinkers to have about30% more vitamin B6 in their blood than non-drinkers.
7. Guard Against Stroke
Moderate alcoholic intake can stop blood clots from forming, one of the health benefits of beer that can prevent having a stroke.
8. Reduce Diabetes Risk
Drinking a beer or two per day can increase insulin sensitivity, which helps fight against the development of type 2 diabetes.
9. Lower Blood Pressure
It has been recognized that wine is good foryour heart, but beer could be even better! A Harvard study found that moderate beer consumption reduces high blood pressure inwomen better than drinking wine or spirits in moderation.
10. Live a Longer Life
The USDA reviewed 50 studies in 2005 and found that moderate drinkers tend to live longer. The department also estimates thatmoderate drinking prevents 26,000 deaths per year thanks to lower rates of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.

Common Gynecologic Symptoms

Two of the most common gynecologic symptoms that women experience are pain and excessive or irregular menstrual bleeding. Before a medical appointment, it is helpful to track and document your symptoms - the location, frequency, intensity, etc. The more specific you can be in describing your symptoms, the more helpful this will be for your doctor in diagnosing your con...dition. Bring this information to your appointment. It will help your doctor diagnose your gynecologic condition and offer you the most appropriate treatment options for your condition.
Pain
Pain can be described in many ways. Intensity of pain is commonly measured with a simple 0-10 point scale where 0 equals no pain and 10 is the worst pain imaginable. Describing your pain can help your doctor pinpoint the condition. Each of the following descriptions of pain may indicate a different gynecologic condition:
• Pelvic discomfort
• Pelvic pressure
• Abdominal tenderness
• Abdominal cramps
• Back ache
• Back pain
• Painful urination and/or bowel movements
• Pain during intercourse
Bleeding
Monthly menstrual bleeding (your period) is different for each woman. It is important to describe what is normal for you, how often you have your period, how long it usually lasts, and how heavy it usually is. Remember that bleeding patterns can be different before and after childbirth, with age, and with any medications you regularlytake. Abnormal bleeding must be compared to what is normal for you. The following are examples of bleeding patterns that may be patterns of specific gynecologic conditions:
• Excessively heavy or abnormal bleeding
• Bleeding longer than 7 days
• Periods more frequent than 21 days
• Periods more than 35 days apart
• Spotting/ bleeding between periods
• Spotting/ bleeding after menopause
• Passing blood clots
• Painful bleeding
• Bleeding after intercourse
• Vaginal bleeding (vs. uterine bleeding)
• Vaginal discharge tinged with blood
Other Symptoms
There are other symptoms that can stand alone or accompany pain and bleeding. Theyalso need to be described, in order for your doctor to accurately diagnose your condition:
• Difficulty with urination or bowel movements
• Improper bowel/bladder function
• Infertility
• Feeling of pressure on your bladder or rectum
• Slipping or dropping of your vagina or uterus
• Feeling heaviness or pressure in your pelvis
• Constant abdominal pressure
• Swelling or bloating
• Urinary urgency (feeling the need to go)
• Recurrent urinary tract infections
• Pain while standing or walking
Talk to Your Doctor
If something doesn't seem right, see your doctor. The symptoms listed above can occur alone or in combination with each other. These symptoms may potentially indicate the presence of endometriosis / adenomyosis, uterine fibroids, uterine prolapse or, possibly, cancer.

Greatest Computer Hackers, George Francis Hotz

George Francis Hotz (born October 2, 1989), alias geohot, million75 or simply mil, is an American hacker known for unlocking the iPhone, allowing the phone to be used with other wireless carriers, contrary to AT&T and Apple's intent. He became the first person to jailbreak anIphone. He is also noted for hacking the PlayStation 3 and subsequently being sued by and settling with Sony. On June 27, 2011, it was reported that Hotz had been hired by Facebook. However, according to a CNET article, he had actually been employed since May, which was confirmed by Facebook. It is unknown what his role at the company was. In January 2012, Hotz stopped working at Facebook.

Blue-ringed Octopus

The blue-ringed octopuses is a tiny cephalopod that packs a lethal punch, a re three octopus species that live in tide poolsand coral reefs in the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean, from Japan to Australia. They are currently recognized as one of the world's most venomous marine animals. Despite their small size and relatively docile nature, they can prove a danger to humans.... They can be recognized by their characteristic blue and black rings and yellowish skin. When the octopus is agitated, the brown patches darken dramatically, and iridescent blue rings or clumps of rings appear and pulsate within the maculae. Typically 50-60 blue rings cover the dorsal and lateral surfaces of the mantle. They hunt small crabs, hermit crabs, and shrimp, and may bite attackers, including humans, if provoked.

Arrinera – The Future Super Car With Night Vision Technology

Super cars are slowly superseding conventional cars. Right now, everyone owns a conventional car but very soon people might be moving towards super cars to make them their casual cars. To encourage the super car concept, manufacturers are introducing some supertechnologies inside these cars at affordable price tags. So by 2013, with a ...handsome budget of $100,000,you could get a super car with whopping features.A super car company recently introduced Arrinera concept meant for general public. The car goes from 0-60 mph in a mere 3.2 seconds. The engine is Corvette ZR1′s supercharged V8 and it surely delivers the kick required for such a high performance car.
Now to top it up, what could be more amazing than a thermal camera inside the car that scans the road. And yes! This is oneof the best Night Vision which has ever been introduced in cars! It would be amazing to have such cars in future, as drivers will be able to drive in high speeds on highways without any visibility issues or disturbances. Furthermore, we are already aware with the auto braking technology that is heading towards future cars. Combining this auto braking with thermal vision technology, you can drive at high speeds without fear of anything (until there is something that is not thermally detectable)

Anglerfish

Anglerfishes are bony fishes named for their characteristic mode of predation, wherein a fleshy growth from the fish's head acts as a lure; this is considered analogous to angling. Some anglerfishes are pelagic (live in the open water), while others are benthic (bottom-dwelling). Some live in the deep sea and others on the continental shelf. They occur worldwide. Pelagic forms are most laterally (sideways) compressed whereas the benthic forms are often extremely dorsoventrally compressed (depressed) often with large upward pointing mouths

Why Facebook uses Blue Color?

The reason for this is that Mark Zuckerberg, the young founder of Facebook is red-green color-blind and blue is the richest colour for him which he confirmed in an interview with Leo Laporte in an online interview.
Another important commercial factor for using blue color is the fact that most colors tend to distract the viewers. Blue on the other hand acts as a tra...nsparent background to the main content as visible to the human brain due to which most popular websites tend to use the blue color. It can easily be called a webmaster's favorite color. Blue Color is also sometimes referred to as 'Nirvana' for the brain.
All these factors make blue a prominent color on Facebook.

Amenorrhea

What is amenorrhea?
Amenorrhea is the absence of a menstrual period.
Primary amenorrhea is when a young woman has not yet had a period by age 16.
Secondary amenorrhea describes someone who used to have a regular period but then it stopped for at least three months (this can include pregnancy).
... What are the signs of amenorrhea?
The main sign of amenorrhea is missing a menstrual period.
Regular periods are a sign of overall good health. Missing a period may mean that you are pregnant or that something is going wrong (see What are the causes of amenorrhea?). It’s important to tell your health care provider if you miss a period so he or she can begin to find out what is happening in your body.
Amenorrhea itself is not a disease, but is usually a symptom of another condition. Depending on that condition, a woman might experience other symptoms, such as headache, vision changes, hair loss, or excess facial hair.
What are the causes of amenorrhea?
Amenorrhea is a symptom of a variety of conditions, ranging from not serious to serious.
Primary Amenorrhea
Chromosomal or genetic abnormalities can cause the eggs and follicles involved in menstruation to deplete too early in life.
Hypothalamic or pituitary diseases and physical problems, such as problems with reproductive organs, can prevent periods from starting.
Moderate or excessive exercise, eating disorders (such as anorexia nervosa), extreme physical or psychological stress, or a combination of these can disrupt the normal menstrual cycle.
Secondary amenorrhea
This problem is much more common than primary amenorrhea.
Common causes include many of those listed for primary amenorrhea, as well as pregnancy, certain contraceptives, breastfeeding, mental stress, and certain medications.
Hormonal problems involving the hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, ovary, or adrenal glands can also cause amenorrhea.
Women who have very low body weight sometimes stop getting their periods as well.
Women with premature ovarian failure stopgetting regular their periods before natural menopause.
What is treatment for amenorrhea?
Treatment for amenorrhea depends on the underlying cause. Sometimes lifestyle changes can help if weight, stress, or physical activity is causing the amenorrhea. Other times medications and oral contraceptives can help the problem.

Introduction to Galvanization

Galvanization is a metal coating process in which a ferrous part is coated with a

thin layer of zinc. The zinc
... coating seals the surface of
the part from the
environment, preventing
oxidation and weathering from occurring.

The primary method of
galvanization is “hot dip
galvanization”, which has
been in use for over 150 years.

>Cleaning the part before
galvanization is extremely
important. Surface
contaminants such as grease,
dust, or dirt can compromise
the galvanization process. Generally, parts are cleaned in
a two step process. In the
first step, the part is cleaned in
a hot alkaline solution to
remove any surface
contaminants. In the second step, the part is immersed in a
weak acid solution to remove
rust and scale, resulting in a
clean and smooth surface.

In both dry and wet
galvanization, the part is
immersed in a molten zinc
bath with a temperature of
about 860ĀŗF(460ĀŗC). The zinc
metallurgically bonds to the steel part, resulting in a
transition layer of steel/zinc
alloy between the steel part
and the zinc coating. The
galvanization process results
in a dull gray crystalline surface finish, often referred
to as “spangle”. Within 24-48 hours after
galvanizing, the outer surface
of the zinc coating becomes
zinc oxide. Any post-
galvanization coating
operations, such as powder coating, need to be performed
before this oxidation occurs.
After short term atmospheric
exposure, some of the outer
layer of zinc oxide becomes
zinc hydroxide. After extended atmospheric
exposure, the zinc oxide is
converted to zinc carbonate.
This “patina” provides an
additional layer of protection
to the steel part, helping it to withstand weathering.

Galvanization helps to extend
the life of steel parts by
providing a barrier between
the steel and the atmosphere,
preventing iron oxide from
forming on the surface of the steel. Galvanization also
provides superior corrosion
resistance to parts exposed to
the environment.

Cosmonaut Sergei Avdeyev

Cosmonaut Sergei Avdeyev holds the world record for TIME TRAVEL. He traveled 0.02 seconds into the future.

Yes, folks, it is possible to travel in time, at least, to travel to the future. There's no time-traveling phone booths. What Avdeyev did to travel in time is to orbit the Earth 11,968 times over the course of 748 days in the Mir space station. By the time his stint in space was over, he had... experienced 0.2 seconds less than the rest of the world did.
This made him 0.2 seconds younger than he would have been if he had never gone into space. To put it in another way, he traveled 0.02 seconds into the future.
Hypothetically, you travel a whole lot more in time if you traveled faster, closer to the speed of light.

human eye can detect millions of colors and is sensitive to light and sounds.

...
Yes, sound . University research studies show that
mild and incidental noises
cause the pupils of the eyes to
dilate.

According to David Louis’s
book of Fascinating Facts, it is believed that this is why
surgeons, watchmakers, and
others who perform delicate
manual operations are so
bothered by uninvited noise:
the sounds cause their pupils to change focus and blur their
vision.
The “millions of colors” that
the eye can detect are the
three primary colors of red,
green and blue and the
millions of combinations that
result from these three colors. (In 1878, Ewald Hering proposed the theory that the four unique hues of red,
green, blue, and yellow form
the basis of all colors.) The eye is, of course, just a
lens for the brain. You actually see with your brain

SONIC BOOM

Is the sound of a flying jet from its engine.......??!

Its bcoz of SONIC BOOM....
What is a Sonic Boom?
Sonic boom is an impulsive noise similar to thunder. It is caused by an object moving faster than sound, about 750 miles per hour at sea level. An aircraft traveling through the atmosphere continuously produces air-pressure waves similar to the water waves caused by a ship's bow. Whenthe aircraf...t exceeds the speed of sound, these pressure waves combine and form shock waves which travel forward from the generation or "release" point.
As an aircraft flies at supersonic speeds it is continually generating shock waves, dropping sonic boom along its flight path, similar to someone dropping objects from a moving vehicle.
From the perspective of the aircraft, the boom appears to be swept backwards as ittravels away from the aircraft. Ifthe plane makes a sharp turn or pulls up, the boom will hit the ground in front of the aircraft.

20-20 vision is based on the distance of 20 ... feet

When you do an eye test, the

distance between you and the
eye chart is 20 feet. The
distance was chosen because
the rays of light, as you
experience it from your two eyes, are about parallel to an
object at that distance. The
third line from the bottom on
the eye chart is the 20-20 line.
If you can see that line fine at
20 feet, you have 20-20 vision. If you have 20-10 vision, for
instance, you can spot letters
at a distance that others need
to stand at 10 feet to see.

The chart that is traditionally
used for eye test is the Snellen chart, named after Dutch ophthalmologist Hermann Snellen who developed the chart during 1862. To test a
person’s central visual field for
blind spots or distortion, the Amsler Grid is used.

Urine Color as Health Indicator

The kidneys process liquids from what you have been eating and drinking, as well as material from various body processes. The resulting urine consists of water and dissolved waste material. Since some organ malfunctions or the effort to fight off a disease can results in excess waste material, the color of the urine can be an indicator of what you have been ingesti...ng and the condition of your health. Certain colors can indicate problems, diseases or imbalances in your diet.
Questions you may have include:
*. Of what does urine consist?
*. What are abnormal colors for urine?

Urine

Urine consists of water and dissolved waste material from what you have been drinking and eating. It also includes dead blood cells and other material the body wants to eliminate.
The kidneys process the blood plasma, allowing water, sugars, vitamins, amino acids and other vital substances back into the bloodstream. They eliminate excess water, salts and minerals, as well as urea from protein digestion, uric acid, creatininefrom muscle breakdown, hormone waste and toxins. Also eliminated is urochrome, which is a yellow pigment that comes fromthe processing of dead blood cells in the liver.
The urochrome gives the urine a pale yellow color, which is its normal color.
Abnormal colors
Since the normal color of urine is pale yellow, variations can be an indication of health problems or be the result of certain foods that have been eaten.
Clear urine
If a person has been drinking an excess of water or diuretics such as coffee or beer, the urine may have little or no color. Typically, it is nothing to worry about if it happens occasionally.

Yellow urine
Excess sweating could result in the urine becoming a deeper yellow. Also, it is a sign that you have not been drinking enough liquids
Dark yellow urine
Liver problems or jaundice can cause the urine to become consistently a dark yellow color. Be sure you have been drinking enough fluids before jumping to conclusions.

Orange urine
People who eat too many carrots--like from a juicer--may see orange urine. Also, too much Vitamin C can turn the urine orange.

Brown urine
Brown urine can an indication of a serious condition. It could be caused by liver disease, hepatitis, melanoma cancer, or copper poisoning. Other symptoms from those ailments should also be considered as indicators. But note that if you had recently eaten fava beans or taken a laxative, your urine also could turn brown.

Greenish urine
A urinary tract infection, bile problems and certain drugs can cause the urine to turn greenish. A brighter green color is an indication of an excess of B vitamins.

Blue urine
Urine with a bluish tint can be caused by a psuedomonas bacterial infection. It can also be an indication of high levels of calcium.

Reddish urine
There are a number of things that can cause the urine to have a red tint.
Blood
A small amount of blood in the urine can give it a red tint. Sometimes droplets of blood are seen. A bladder infection, kidney stones or bladder stones can result in urinewith red in it. Also, a slight injury to the bladder or kidney can result in bleeding into the urine. Some professional boxers have been known to pass blood in their urine after a fight.
If you see what looks like blood in your urine, it is a good idea to go to the doctor to check the condition.
Food
Eating beets can result in reddish-purple urine.
Acidic urine will turn red after eating blackberries. Alkaline urine will look reddish after eating rhubarb. Whether yoururine is acidic or alkaline is usually determined by other foods you have eaten.
Candy or pills with a dye can temporarily turn the urine red.
Poison
Lead or mercury poisoning can turn the urine reddish. If you suspect you have ingested and have been handling those toxic metals, and your urine is red, you should see your physician.

Unique Water Fountain That Displays Time And Patterns

A water fountain which is located in Osaka Japan at a public meeting place shows time with different patterns and flowers. Itsurely is a treat to watch this fountain withyour eyes. Unlike normal fountains which throw water upwards, this fountain runs by throwing water from up to downwards. The most innovative feature of the fountain come...s here, it runs on a microprocessor system that actually sprinkles the water in such an amazing fashion that it displays time to public and when not showing time, it displays different patterns such as flowers, vines and waves of bars.
The timing and patterns are all controlled by a microprocessor and it can be changed to different sequences and patterns. This fountain is basically located in a Osaka shopping mall where the customers are more attracted towards this fountain than the shopping items. This is one of the first few such types of fountains to be installed worldwide. However, with time this concept will get popularity for sure and we will see more and more such fountains getting installed.

PUPPY FUN FACTS !!!

1. A puppy is born blind, deaf and toothless.

2. During its first week 90% of a puppy's time is spent sleeping and 10% eating.
...
3. At the age of three weeks a puppy will develop its sense of smell.

4. A puppy will sleep for fourteen hours every day.

5. A puppy is considered and adult at the age of one year. At this age it is as physically as mature as a fifteen year-old human.

Aging

The process of becoming older, a process that
... is genetically determined and
environmentally modulated. Research into aging: To sum up the state of research into
aging is well beyond the
confines of this space (and this
writer's talents).

However,
here is one type of research
into the genetics of aging. A gene has been discovered that helps determine the life-
span of the fruit fly
Drosophila. When the gene is
mutated (altered), it can
extend the life-span of fruit
flies.
It doubles their life-span. The gene has been named
Indy (for I'm not dead yet). It
appears that the protein encoded by this gene
transports and recycles
metabolic byproducts. Defects
in the gene may lead to
production of a protein that
renders metabolism less efficient so that its body
functions as if the fruit fly
were dieting, even though its
eating habits are unchanged.

Mutations in Indy thus appear
to create a metabolic state that mimics caloric restriction,
which has been shown to
extend life-span.

Some useful suggestions for extending life: No known substance can halt aging or
extend life, but here are some
useful tips for improving the
chances of living a long time
and staying healthy:

1. Eat a balanced diet,
including five helpings
of fruits and
vegetables a day.

2. Exercise regularly
(check with a doctor
before starting an
exercise program).

3. Get regular health
check-ups.

4. Don't smoke (it's never
too late to quit).

5. Practice safety habits
at home to prevent
falls and fractures.

6. Always wear your
seatbelt in a car.

7. Stay in contact with
family and friends.

8. Stay active through
work, play, and
community.

9. Avoid overexposure
to the sun and the cold.

10. If you drink,
moderation is the key.

11. When you drink, let
someone else drive.

12. Keep personal and
financial records in
order to simplify
budgeting and
investing.

13. Plan long-term housing
and money needs.

14. Keep a positive
attitude toward life.

15. Do things that make
you happy.

people who were given access
to a new brain – computer interface or BCI.

Developed by a company that
specialises in medical
engineering, G.Tec of
Schiedlberg, Austria – the new
interface allows users to
explore virtual worlds as well as operate lights, TV’s and
anything else connected to the
interface.

Similar brain computer
interfaces have existed for a
while but this system differs
in that it is much more
accurate and can more
accurately detect brain waves.

A common type of brain
signal that is produced when a
user is suprised by something
is known as the P300 and it is
this that the brain computer
interface detects. Using icons on a screen, they
can detect the peaks in the
P300 signal of the persons
brain giving a way for them
to control whatever the
interface is set up for. In this instance, it was controlling an
avatar in the online virtual
world ‘Second Life’. The company hopes to add
similar control functions to
wheelchairs and other devices
that will give more freedom
to the severely disabled and
increase their independance and mobility. What a great thing, when
technology and medecine can
come together to enrich the
lives of those much less
fortunate than ourselves.
I
hope this technology becomes more prolific in the future.

happiness, sadness, knowledge, and all the others, including love.

Once upon a time there was an island where all the feelings lived; happiness, sadness, knowledge, and all the others, including love.

One day it was announced to all of the feelings that the island was going to sink to the bottom of the ocean. So all the feelings prepared their boats to leave. Love was the only one that stayed. She wanted to preserve the island paradise until the last ...possible moment. When the island was almost totally under, Love decided it was time to leave. She began looking for someone to ask for help.

Just then Richness was passing by in a grand boat. Love asked, "Richness, Can I come with you on your boat?" Richness answered, " I'm sorry, but there is a lot of silver and gold on my boat and there would be no room for you anywhere."

Then Love decided to ask Vanity for help who was passing in a beautiful vessel.
Love cried out, "Vanity, help me please."
"I can't help you", Vanity said, "You are all wet and will damage my beautiful boat."
Next, Love saw Sadness passing by.

Love said, "Sadness, please let me go with you."
Sadness answered, "Love,
I'm sorry, but, I just need to be alone now."
Then, Love saw Happiness.
Love cried out, " Happiness, please take me with you."
But Happiness was so overjoyed that he didn't hear Love calling to him. Love began to cry.
Then, she heard a voice say, "Come Love, I will take you with me." It was an elder. Love felt so blessed and overjoyed that she forgot to ask the
elder his name. When they arrived on land the elder went on his way. Love realized how much she owed the elder.
Love then found Knowledge and asked, "Who was it that helped me?"
"It was Time", Knowledge answered.
"But why did Time help me when no one else would?", Love asked.

Knowledge smiled and with deep wisdom and sincerity, answered,
"Because only Time is capable of understanding how great Love is."

$ HOW SILENCERS WORKS $

When a cork pops out of a champagne bottle, a lid pops off an over-heated jar, or a bullet shoots from a gun; they all result ina sound. High pressure gas is released so suddenly that we can hear the waves of pressure it makes as the waves travels through the air.
Sparkling wine is bottled under pressure. Jars lids pop off because the air inside them heats and expands. A b...ullet explodes from a gun when gunpowder behind the bullet is ignited. It burns and releases gases violently and quickly. The bullet is the"lid," sitting between the gases and the easiest point of exit from the gun barrel, and so it shoots out into the air. The gas behind it crashes into the air, making the ‘bang' that most people associate with gunshots.
Silencers, or "suppressors," are all about finding ways to reduce the speed, volume, and temperature of that gas. They do so using various structures. One structure is just large chamber attached to the end of the gun barrel. This gives the expanding gas somewhere to expand into. It's a little foyer that some of the gas can mill around in, instead of shooting all of it out of the gun at once. Another is a series of small chambers, almost a honeycomb made of metal. The many chambers make the flow of gas choppy, interrupted by diversions. The honeycomb also makes the gas flow over a large, metal surface area. Metal absorbs heat very well. All the heat that goes into the metal comes out of the gas. Since heat makes gas expand, losing some heat will make it contract. That contractionmeans less pressure, and that means less of a bang.

How the Famous Companies were named

Mercedes:
This was actually financier’s daughter’s name.

... Adobe:
This came from the name of the river Adobe Creek that ran behind the house of founder John Warnock.

Apple Computers:
It was the favourite fruit of founder Steve Jobbs.Hewas three months late for filing a name for the business, and he threatened to call his company Apple Computers if the other colleaguesdidn’t suggest a better name by 5 o’clock.

CISCO:
It is not an acronym as popularly believed. Its short for San Francisco.

Compaq:
This name was formed by using COMp, for computer and PAQ to denote a smallintegral object.

Corel:
The name was derived from the founder’s name Dr. Michael Cowpland. Itstands for COwpland Research Laboratory.

Google:
The name started as a joke boasting about the amount of information the search-engine would be able to search. It was originally named ‘Googol’,a wordfor the number represented by 1 followed by 100 zeros. After founders – Stanford graduate students Sergey Brinand Larry Page presented their project to an angel investor; they received a cheque made out to ‘Google’.

Hotmail:
Founder Jack Smith got the idea of accessing e-mail via the web from a computer anywhere in the world. When Sabeer Bhatia came up with the business plan for the mail service, he tried all kinds of names ending in ‘mail’ and finally settled for hotmail as it included the letters”html” – the programming language used to write web pages. It was initially referred to as HoTMaiL with selective uppercasing.

Hewlett Packard :
Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard tossed a coin to decide whether the company they founded would be called Hewlett-Packard or Packard-Hewlett.

Intel:
Bob Noyce and Gordon Moore wanted to name their new company ‘Moore Noyce’ but that was already trademarked by a hotel chain so they had to settle for an acronym of INTegrated ELectronics.

X-ray crystallography

The use of X-rays of known wavelength to learn the structure of any crystalline material. Put otherwise, X-ray crystallography is a technology by which the locations of atoms in any crystal can be precisely mapped by looking at the image of the crystal under an X-ray beam.

... The crystal is placed in the beam of X-rays and the angles of diffraction of the X-rays are recorded as a series of spots on photographic film. This method (called the Laue method after the German physicist Max Theodor Felix von Laue) has been employed to determine and measure the physical structure of many materials.

One example of the use of X-ray crystallography has been our understanding of the structure and function of hemoglobin and its close relative, myoglobin. Hemoglobin is the protein that transports oxygen from the lungs to the tissues via red blood cells while myoglobin is its counterpart in muscle that stores oxygen and gives it up to muscle cells as needed.

In 1962 Max Perutz and John C. Kendrew from Cambridge University shared the Nobel Prize for Chemistry for their brilliant X-ray diffraction analyses of hemoglobin (Perutz) and myoglobin (Kendrew).

The Sharpest View of the Sun.

This stunning image shows remarkable and mysterious details near the dark central region of a planet-sized sunspotin one of the sharpest views ever of the surface of the Sun. Just released, the picture was made using the Swedish Solar Telescope now in its first year of operation on the ...Canary Island of La Palma .
Along with features described as hairs and canals are dark cores visible with in  the bright filaments that extend into the sunspot, representing previously unknown and unexplored solar phenomena. The filaments’ newly revealed dark cores are seen to be thousands of kilometers long but only about 100 kilometers wide. Resolving features 100 kilometers wide or less is a milestone in solar astronomy and hasbeen achieved here using sophisticatedadaptive optics, digital image stacking, and processing techniques to counter the blurring effect of Earth’s atmosphere. At optical wavelengths, these images are sharper than even current space-based solar observatories can produce. The sunspotshown is the largest of the group of sunspots cataloged as solar active region AR 10030.

electronics>>>>>>ISDN>>>>

Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) is a set of communications standards for simultaneous digital transmission of voice, video, data, and other network services over the traditional circuits of the public switched telephone network. It was first defined in 1988 in the CCITT red book.[1] Prior to ISDN, the telephone system was viewed as a way to transport voice, wi...th some special services available for data. The key feature of ISDN is that it integrates speech and data on the same lines, adding features that were not available in the classic telephone system. There are several kinds of access interfaces to ISDN defined as Basic Rate Interface (BRI), Primary Rate Interface (PRI) and Broadband ISDN (B-ISDN).

THE LIFE OF A STROKE PATIENT

From a Chinese Professor.
... Keep a syringe or needle in your home to do this… It’s amazing and an unconventional way of recovering fromstroke, read it through it can help somebody one day.
This is amazing. Please keep this very handy . Excellent tips.
Do take a minute to read this. You’ll never know, ones life may depend on you.

When a stroke occurs, stay calm.
No matter where the victim is, do not move him/her. Because, if moved, the capillaries will burst.
Help the victim to sit up where he/she is to prevent him/her from falling over again and then the blood letting can begin .
If you have in your home an injection syringe that would be the best.
Otherwise, a sewing needle or a straight pin will do.
1. Place the needle/pin over fire to sterilize it and then use it to prick the tip of all ……10 fingers.
2. There are no specific acupuncture points, just prick about an mm from thefingernail.
3. Prick till blood comes out.
4. If blood does not start to drip, then squeeze with your fingers.
5. When all 10 digits is bleeding, wait a few minutes then the victim will regainconsciousness.
6. If the victim’s mouth is crooked , then pull on his ears until they are red.
7. Then prick each earlobe twice until two drops of blood comes from each earlobe.
After a few minutes the victim should regain consciousness.
Wait till the victim regains his normal state without any abnormal symptoms then take him to the hospital.
Otherwise, if he was taken in the ambulance in a hurry to the hospital, the bumpy trip will cause all the capillaries in his brain to burst.
If he could save his life, barely managing to walk, then it is by the grace of his ancestors.
‘I learned about letting blood to save life from Chinese traditional doctor, Ha Bu Ting, who lives in Sun Juke.
Furthermore, I had practical experiencewith it. Therefore, I can say this method is 100% effective.
In 1979, I was teaching in Fung Gaap College in Tai Chung.
One afternoon, I was teaching a class when another teacher came running tomy classroom and said in panting,
‘Ms Liu, come quick, our supervisor has had a stroke !’. I immediately went to the 3rd floor.
When I saw our supervisor, Mr. Chen Fu Tien, his colour was off, his speech was slurred , his mouth was crooked – all the symptoms of a stroke.
I immediately asked one of the practicum students to go to the pharmacy outside the school to buy a syringe, which I used to prick Mr. Chen’s 10 fingers tips.
When all 10 fingers were bleeding (each with a pea-sized drop of blood), after a few minutes, Mr. Chen’s face regained its colour and his eyes’ spirit returned,
But his mouth was still crooked . So I pulled on his ears to fill them with blood .
When his ears became red ,
I pricked his right earlobe twice to let out two drops of blood .
When both earlobes had two drops of blood each , a miracle happened .
Within 3-5 minutes the shape of his mouth returned to normal and his speech became clear.
We let him rest for a while and have a cup of hot tea , then we helped him go down the stairs, drove him to Wei Wah Hospital . He rested one night and was released the next day to return to school to teach.. Everything worked normally.
There were no ill after effects.
On the other hand, the usual stroke victim usually suffers Irreparable bursting of the brain capillaries on the way to the hospital. As a result, these victims never recover.’ (Irene Liu)Therefore, stroke is the second cause of death. The lucky ones will stay alive but can remain paralysed for life.
It is such a horrible thing to happen in ones life.
If we can all remember this blood letting method and start the life savingprocess immediately, in a short time, the victim will be revived and regain 100% normality.

Facts about Three Gorges Dam, China.

The Three Gorges Dam will consist of a 610-foothigh wall running 1.3 miles from bank to bank.
The reservoir created by the backflow of the dam will extend 360 miles up river to Chongqing ("Chong-ching"), a distance equal to nearly half the length of California.
Once operational, the dam will produce the energy of 15 nuclear power plants.
... The project is estimated to be completed in 2009 at a cost of over $30 billion.
In the past 2,000 years, the Yangtze River has experienced 215 catastrophic floods.
In 1998 flooding in the area expected to be controlled by the dam resulted in 4,000 dead, 14 million left homeless and $24 billion in economic loss.
When the dam is completed, 13 cities, 140 towns and over 1,300 villages will be submerged by the Three Gorges Reservoir.
To make way for the Three Gorges Dam, 1.5 million people will have to abandon their homes. More than 160,000 citizens have already been relocated.
Upon the dam's completion, 1,300 known archeological sites will be lost forever under water.
Over 265 billion gallons of raw sewage are dumped into the Yangtze annually. Currently the river flushes this downstream and out into the ocean. Upon completion of the Three Gorges project, the sewage will back up in the reservoir.
Over 1,600 factories and abandoned mines will be submerged when the dam is completed. Environmentalists predict that toxins associated with industry and mining will create a hazard for the animals and people who depend on the river for survival.
Over 700 million tons of sediment are deposited into the Yangtze annually, making it the fourth largest sediment carrier in the world. Experts believe that this sediment will build up behind the dam, with only an unproven system ofsluice gates to release it.
Over 360 million people live within the watershed of the Yangtze River. If the one in one thousand chance of a dam collapse occured, the millions of people who live downstream would be endangered.

Heat + Energy = Brains.

The U.S. military’s premiere research agency is already trying to use math to predict human behavior and neuroscience to replicate a primate’s brain. The next step: Lean on the study of energy and heat to create an entirely new theory for how intelligence actually works.
The idea behind Darpa’s latest venture, called “Physical Intelligence” (PI) is to prove, mathematically..., that the humanmind is nothing more than parts and energy. In other words, all brain activities — reasoning, emoting, processing sights and smells — derive from physical mechanisms at work, acting according to the principles of “thermodynamics in open systems.” Thermodynamics is founded on the conversion of energy into work and heat within a system (which could be anything from a test-tube solution to a planet). The processes can be summed up in formalized equations and laws, which are then used to describe how systems react to changes in their surroundings.
Now, the military wants a new equation: one that explains the human mind as a thermodynamic system. Once that’s done, they’re asking for “abiotic, self-organizing electronic and chemical systems” that display the PI principles. More than just computers that think, Darpa wants to re-envision how thought works — and then design computers whose thought processes are governed by the same laws as our own.
Sounds spooky, but what Darpa suggests has been kicking around as branch of philosophy, called physicalism, since the early 20th century. And researchers have already designed computers that can solve problems of complex physics. What is a little freaky is what DARPA’s new paradigm would mean for the distinction, or lack thereof, between humans and machines.
“If successful, the program would launch a revolution of understanding across many fields of human endeavor, demonstrate the first intelligence engineered from first principles, createnew classes of electronic, computational, and chemical systems, and create tools to engineer intelligent systems that match the problem/environment in which they will exist.”
Even for Darpa, this is a wildly ambitious goal — one that may never be reached. But if the human mind is nothing more than the sum of its parts,Darpa’s new paradigm just might create computational intelligence that outdoes our own thermodynamic capabilities… making your brain the equivalent of last year’s mod.

Magnetic Jet Injection Device Can Shoot Any Drug Through the Skin, No Needle Required

Needle-Free Injections This device deliversa high-velocity jet of liquid that breaches the skin at the speed of sound. MIT BioInstrumentation Lab
... Whether you’re at the doctor’s office or taking medicine at home, future injections could be a lot less painful with this new gadget developed at MIT. Insteadof a sterile metal point penetrating your skin, it fires a jet of medicine through yourskin at the speed of sound.
It’s similar to a normal syringe, except instead of a needle plunger, it uses a Lorentz force actuator, made from a magnet surrounded by a conductive coil. When a current is turned on, the magneticfield interacts with the current to producea force. That force kicks a piston, which ejects a drug that has been embedded inside the capsule. The speed of the ejection and the depth it will reach can be controlled by altering the current.
To penetrate the skin, the ejection happens at ultra high speeds, almost equivalent to the speed of sound through air. The drug flows through an opening that’s about as wide as a mosquito proboscis, according to MIT News .
Researchers led by Ian Hunter and Catherine Hogan tested a prototype device with two different velocities: One can breach the skin and reach deep into tissue, and another can deliver drugs more slowly, so they can be absorbed by the skin

Komodo, Indonesia

Indonesia’s Komodo National Park includes the three larger islands Komodo, Rinca and Padar, as well as numerous smaller ones, for a total area of 1,817 square kilometers (603 square kilometers of it land). The national park was founded in 1980 to protect the Komodo dragon. Later, it was also dedicated to protecting other species, including marine animals. The islands of the national park are of volcanic origin.

*Blood-Sucking Ants*

The tiny endangered Madagascar-base d Adetomyrma ant has a strange way to showlove to its kiddos. The ants practice something known as "non-destructiv e cannibalism." When the colony's queen gives birth to ant larvae, she and her workers chew holes in the tiny babies to feed on their haemo...lymph – their circulatory system fluid (which would be blood in mammals). Scientists can't say exactly why these ants do this -- ants have asocial behavior of transferring fluids to eachother, so they may be practicing a rudimentary form of that behavior. The baby ants don't die, but sucking blood from the young is a weird way to show vampire affection.See More

A Cell’s First Steps: Building A Model To Explain How Cells Grow

A collaboration between Lehigh University physicists and University of Miami biologistsaddresses an important fundamental question in basic cell biology: How do living cells figure out when and where to grow?
The study, Oscillatory Dynamics of Cdc42 GTPase In The Control of Polarized Growth, appears today in the journal Science Expr...ess .
Assistant Professor Dimitrios Vavylonis and graduate student Tyler Drake joined a University of Miami research team led by Associate Professor Fulvia Verde to learn that protein Cdc42 begins the ballet of proteins that change cell polarity, by oscillating throughout the cellular membrane of new cells. By changing polarity, Cdc42 regulates shape, structure and function in yeast cells. This oscillatory mechanism may be a general strategy among all self-organizing biological systems, not just simple yeast.
Researchers used fluorescent markers to tag each of the many proteins involved, observing the protein oscillate, switching sides about every five minutes. The fluctuations provide an adaptable mechanism for cells to control their size and structure in the fast-changing environment within.
The findings demonstrate just part of the complex process of cell growth and differentiation, but mark how advanced the science of biophysics has become. Only recently has the clear imaging and monitoring of protein activity become possible at the minute sizes and shortened time scales of individual cell maturation.
Vavylonis’s research has for years explored the way the cellular cytoskeleton organizes and functions. In collaboration with biologists and computer scientists, his teamuses physics to study, analyze, and model the physical properties of these adaptive biological materials.
The study was funded by the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, and by individual university groups including a Lehigh Class of 1968 Junior Faculty Fellowship and a Sigma Xi grant to Drake.

How does speedometer in aeroplane works-..????

Airspeed is a measurement of the plane's speed relative to the air around it. The pitot (pronounced pee-toe) static tube system is an ingenious device used by airplanes and boats for measuring forward speed.
The device is really a differential pressure gauge and was invented by Henri Pitot'in 1732.
Heres how it works...==
... The open end of the pitot tube, usually mounted on a wing, faces toward the flow of air or water. The air speed indicator actually measures the difference between astatic sensor not in the air stream and a sensor (pitot tube) in the air stream.
An increase in forward speed raises the pressure at the end of the pitot tube. In turn, the air pressure pushes against a flexible diaphragm that moves a connected mechanical pointer on the face of the indicator. The indicator is calibrated to compensate for winds in the air or the speed of the opposing current in the water.
In airplanes, electronics also compensate foraltitude and air temperature to make the air speed measurement accurate.
An example of an air pressure gauge is a tire pressuregauge
